What is Facial recognition (FR)?
Facial recognition is a software technology that examines and recognizes a person’s identity using their face. It uses standard and customized machine learning algorithms to identify human faces in images or videos based on facial features/characteristics, viz, the space between the eyes, the size and shape of the nose, and the curves of the face, etc. It also helps to determine if the face in an image belongs to a particular person or search for a face in a collection of images.
A number of uses for facial recognition technology include security and surveillance, user authentication, and personalization. It may be used to identify people instantly or to compare faces to a database of recognized faces.
How Facial Recognition Works for Attendance Tracking in Universities?
A Facial Recognition System can be used wherever daily attendance or presence needs to be recorded, maintained, and verified. For example, in Universities, technology can be used for identifying and verifying a student by using the facial features of that student and marking the attendance automatically. The procedure/methodology adopted for the same is enumerated below:
Enrolment
When a student enrols in a college, his/her profile pictures are taken and registered in the facial recognition system. This involves capturing images of their faces from different angles and Uploading the same to use as a digital template that represents each student's unique facial features.
Storage
Storage of images including their meta data is a vital aspect in the successful implementation of the technology. This requirement can be met via cloud computing technology and/or using a local server, or a hybrid solution.
Camera
High-resolution cameras, which can result in sharper and more detailed pictures, are installed in the classroom to capture images of the students' faces at specified intervals. The camera will have auto-rotating features and therefore have a field of view that covers approximately the entire sphere or at least a full circle in the horizontal plane.
Image capture and uploading
During a classroom session, the camera zooms into each quadrant and captures images of students present in the session. A minimum of four images of a session are taken and the same are then automatically uploaded to the FR system.
Face Recognition
The FR system is provided with the details of students who are ought to be present in that particular session. The system then analyzes the camera images and compares the same with the initially registered profile pictures already uploaded during a student’s enrollment.
What are the schedule, activity, and classroom?
In the context of facial recognition for attendance,
"Schedule" refers to a preset timetable of when courses or other activities are expected to take place.
"Activity" refers to the specific event or task that is taking place during a scheduled time period. In the context of facial recognition for attendance, an activity could be a lecture, seminar, or any other type of educational event that students are expected to attend.
 about
"Classroom" refers to the physical location where an activity is taking place. In the context of facial recognition for attendance, classrooms are equipped with cameras and facial recognition technology that can identify and track students in the classroom. This information is then used to automatically record attendance for each student, eliminating the need for manual tracking and saving time for teachers and administrators. application process. I look forward to staying in touch and updating you on my progress in the program.

How do you upload the pictures?
Our system simplifies the process of uploading classroom pictures by automatically capturing and uploading them through the cameras. For student profile pictures, we provide the option for students to upload their own pictures from their mobile devices, based on the guidelines outlined in our FAQ. This ensures that student profile pictures meet the necessary standards for real-time facial recognition during classroom attendance.
How do you take images of students' profiles and classrooms?
To make sure that our product truly captures the brilliance of your educational setting, we've put together some useful guidelines for shooting pictures of student profiles and classrooms.
To capture the essence of your academic space, we recommend taking a minimum of six pictures of each student profile, including two straight-facing headshots, image should be no larger than 5MB in size.

For classroom images, we suggest utilizing a camera with the capability to zoom into each corner of the classroom to capture all aspects of the learning space. We require that images be of at least 5MP in quality to prioritize exceptional resolution and clarity.
